Our Story

"Wilmer D Coffee: A Journey of Taste, Purpose, and Faith"

The story of our business, Wilmer D, began on a momentous day: October 11, 2012, the day Robert (Bob) Mercier and Laura Willey tied the knot. It was during this special occasion that Laura's son gifted Bob some green coffee beans and a home roaster, igniting a journey that would shape their lives. Bob experimented with the beans and roaster for a while but eventually switched back to store-bought coffee. However, he soon realized that the regular coffee was wreaking havoc on his stomach and leaving him feeling disoriented. Intrigued, he started scrutinizing labels and was dismayed by the numerous unpronounceable ingredients and the health concerns associated with them.

Driven by a desire to find a coffee free from chemicals, preservatives, and the drama surrounding its impact on health, Bob embarked on a quest. He began roasting and blending various coffee beans, sharing his creations with family and friends. To his delight, they all loved it. Encouraged by the positive feedback, Bob and Laura decided it was time to give their coffee a name. They combined the first three letters of Laura's last name with the first three letters of Bob's last name, resulting in "Wilmer." It was a fitting tribute to their partnership and collaboration. But they wanted to add something more. A friend who had tasted the delicious coffee kept asking for more, and thus the "D" was added, representing "Delicious." Wilmer D was born, short for Wilmer Delicious Coffee.

Bob dedicated around six years to refining his craft, experimenting with different beans and blends to achieve the desired taste. It was a labor of love and a testament to his commitment to quality. Several years later, I (Kathy) was fortunate enough to receive a gift of Wilmer D Coffee. At that time, I rarely indulged in coffee myself, as I couldn't find one that appealed to my taste. However, Wilmer D changed everything for me. I actually enjoyed drinking it. Intrigued, I reached out to Bob to inquire about purchasing more.

In a warm gesture, Bob invited us and another couple to his "Guest House" for a morning coffee session. As we sat down, savoring every sip of Wilmer D, Bob mentioned his desire to sell the business to one of us. Both couples initially doubted our ability to take on such an endeavor. However, the calling became clearer in the spring 2021, when we felt a strong sense of guidance from God. We recognized an opportunity to step into Bob's dream, breathe new life into it, and transform it into a thriving business.

Without Bob and Laura, we would have never discovered this exceptional coffee. Therefore, we decided to preserve the name Wilmer D Coffee as a tribute to their vision and dedication. We believe that this business is more than just a venture; it is a vessel for honoring and glorifying our Lord. We have an unwavering faith that God has great plans for this business and intends to use it as a powerful tool for ministry. With every cup of Wilmer D Coffee, we aim to bring connection, joy, and a taste of God's blessings into people's lives.
